Nutrient Agar, granulated is used for the cultivation of less fastidious microorganisms, can be enriched with blood or otherbiological fluids.
Form
Cream to yellow coloured granular medium
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37 centigrade for 18-48 hours.
Reaction of 2.8% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 7.4±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 centigrade.
Instructions
Suspend 28 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclavingat 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes. Cool to 45-50 centigrade. If desired, the medium can be enriched with 5-10% blood orother biological fluids. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri plates or as desired.
