Plant chromosome karyotype analysis is a technology based on metaphase chromosomes as the research object, according to the characteristics of chromosome length, centromeric position, ratio of long and short arms, and using banding technology to analyze, compare, sort and number chromosomes. Karyotype analysis provides an important basis for the study of cell genetic classification, genetic relationship between species, and chromosome number & structural variation.

  • Metaphase chromosome microscopic analysis. The number of chromosomes is counted by staining individual plant meristem (i.e. root tip cells) and then microscopic analysis. This method is relatively intuitive, but the throughput is smaller.

  • Special cell chloroplast count. For the specific genotypes of many plants, there is a positive correlation between the number of chloroplasts of their guard cells and their ploidy level. In other word, as the ploidy level increases, the number of chloroplasts in the guard cells also increases. Thus, the parameter of chloroplast number can be used to quickly and effectively distinguish two or more ploidy levels.
  • Ploidy Analyzer. We can help customers realize simple and rapid analysis of plant cell ploidy through ploidy analyzer. The machine’s detection time of DNA ploidy specimens does not exceed 2 minutes. The processing and staining time for specimens without cell wall is less than 2 minutes, and the processing and staining time for specimens with cell wall is less than 15 minutes. The operation is simple, and there is no need to prepare and stain metaphase chromosomes. This instrument is suitable for DAPI and PI (with 532 nm green laser) dyed biological DNA. The sample coverage is very wide, and any plant samples such as leaves, roots, stems, pollen, fruits, seeds, etc. can be tested. The detection accuracy of most plant ploidy can reach ±1 chromosome.
