Gene Sequencing Analysis of Agricultural Phages

Gene Sequencing Analysis of Agricultural Phages

Introductions

Gene Sequencing Analysis of Agricultural Phages

Agricultural phages are viruses that attack bacteria and genetic material that confers biological traits on the host bacterium. For freshly isolated agrophages, their genomes are often unknown. To sequence the genomes of such phages, it is more appropriate to use second-generation sequencing that does not rely on specific primers. The purpose of sequencing agricultural phages is not only genome sequence, but also gene annotation and function prediction are generally required.

Lifeasible provides integrated services for developing agricultural phages, including enrichment, isolation, purification, and extraction of genetic material, which can shorten the process of developing agricultural phages for our customers. Here, Lifeasible provides whole-genome sequencing of phages for bioinformatics processing and functional prediction.

Services content

  • Sample: DNA solution of agrophage
  • Objective: DNA phage whole genome sequencing

Isolated agrophages, extracted nucleic acids, and nucleic acids are quality checked and, library sequencing is initiated, bioinformatics processing and splicing annotation after sequencing is completed. We can also provide custom RNA sequencing services according to customer needs.

Things to note for customers

  • Agricultural phage whole genome sequencing projects are usually from isolated phage samples, often not compared to the known genome. Therefore, a phage must be enriched and purified to ensure integrity.
  • Phage supernatant - please label the phage supernatant with the sample name clearly.
  • Phage spots - please label and number the phage spots you submit for sequencing with circles, seal the plates tightly with sealing film, and provide some cushioning around them to avoid possible damage during shipment.
  • Phage titer - please indicate the phage titer in the comments section of your order.

Feedback to the customer

We can provide extracted DNA, annotated genomic protein-coding information, and a full lab report (experimental conditions, instrument parameters, etc.).

Project cycle

It takes 3-10 days.
