Product Name
Sudan Red Rapid Detection Kit (50)
Product Overview
Sudan Red Rapid Detection Kit (50) is designed for the detection of sudan red in food.
Description
Sudan Red Rapid Detection Kit (50) is suitable for on-site qualitative detection of non-edible pigment Sudan Red (I~IV) in foods such as chili powder, chili sauce, and hamburger.
Applications
Suitable for on-site qualitative detection of non-food coloring Sudan red (No.Ⅰ~Ⅳ) in foods such as chili powder, chili sauce, hamburger, etc.
Storage
Reagents should be stored in a cool and dry place at 4-30°C. The validity period is one year.
Kit Components
10 silicone plates; 50 spotting tubes; 3 bottles of developing agent; 1 manual; 30 sample cups; 1 pack of disposable plastic gloves; Control solution A (Sudan RedⅠ+Ⅲ) 1 bottle; Control solution B (Sudan RedⅡ+Ⅳ) 1 bottle
Materials Required but Not Supplied
N-hexane (analytical grade) 10 mL colorimetric tube; 250 mL beaker; ruler; pencil
Scientific Background
Sudan Red is a synthetic azo and oil-soluble chemical dye, which is a lipophilic azo compound, mainly including four types I, II, III and IV. Sudan red is widely used in the fields of biology, chemistry, etc. It is mainly used in industrial products such as engine oil, automobile wax and shoe polish, and can also be used for fireworks coloring. Because of its bright dyeing, it has been used in food processing by some unscrupulous merchants in order to improve the color of the product or maintain the original color, improve the sensory traits of food and enhance people's appetite. Because Sudan red is carcinogenic and has obvious toxic effects on human liver and kidney organs, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies Sudan Red as the third carcinogen.
Technical Notes
1.This method can determine whether Sudan red is added to the sample, and it also has a certain reference value for determining whether other oil-soluble non-food colorings are added to the sample. 2.If spots appear on the top of the spreading agent or the origin of the spot, it may be an interfering substance. Spots appear in other positions in the unfolding track, which can be preliminarily determined to contain non-food coloring, which can be further confirmed by HPLC. 3.When the number of samples to be tested is large, it is not necessary to point the control solution on each chromatographic plate. You can point several samples at a time. When spots appear during the unfolding process, you need to repeat the experiment and then point the control solution. 4.When the control solution is found to be volatilized, a small amount of n-hexane can be added for mixing. 5.The positive samples detected on site should be sent to the laboratory for confirmation. HPLC is required for accurate quantification.
Target Species
Non-edible pigment Sudan Red (I~IV) in foods such as chili powder, chili sauce, and hamburger.
Detection method
Rapid Detection
Analysis
Under the experimental conditions, if the sample has spots in the unfolding trajectory, the spreading distance of the spots is equal to the spreading distance of a certain control solution, the shape is the same, and the color is light but similar, it can be judged that Sudan red is added to the sample.
