Control of Plant Nematodes by Parasitic Fungi

Control of Plant Nematodes by Parasitic Fungi

Endo-parasitic and opportunistic fungi are adsorbed or adhered to the nematode body surface or eggs through mutual recognition with the host nematodes. At the same time, mycelium penetrates the nematode body wall to disintegrate the eggshell, infest the eggs and larvae therein, and multiply the fungus by the action of chitinase. They include some fungi from the genera Pochonia, Paecilomyces, and Hirsutella.

Lifeasible is committed to helping our customers achieve effective and successful research. We provide convenient and guaranteed analysis services for parasitism on plant nematodes by fungi. In addition, we deliver reliable results and reports on time to our customers worldwide.

Analysis of Pochonia Parasitic Fungi

  • Pochonia is a parasitic fungus of cyst nematodes, coccolithophores, root knot nematodes, pearl nematodes, and kidney nematode eggs and females, which is widely distributed, easy to cultivate and produces highly resistant chlamydospores that colonies the soil easily. It is considered to be one of the most exploitable biocontrol fungi.

  • Lifeasible provides analysis of Pochonia that parasites on plant nematodes. We assist our clients in the development of biological control products for Pochonia, helping to study the biological properties, spore production conditions, formulation, and efficacy.
  • Since different genotypes of Pochonia have different efficacy against plant parasitic nematodes, we also help study the gene sequences and functions of Pochonia in depth.

Analysis of Paecilomyces Parasitic Fungi

  • Paecilomyces is a significant nematode egg parasite that is abundant in the soil, especially in the root zone of plants, and can infest both larvae and adults of plant nematodes.
  • We provide analysis of Paecilomyces that parasites on plant nematodes. Our services include the isolation of Paecilomyces from inter-root soils, studying its parasitic effects on nematode eggs, and inhibiting egg hatching. We also help analyze the efficacy of biocontrol agents against nematode diseases.

Analysis of Hirsutella Parasitic Fungi

  • Hirsutella are important nematode parasitic fungi with a wide range of hosts and high parasitism of nematodes in the field. Although exclusively parasitic under natural conditions, they can be cultured artificially and therefore have promise for development as commercial preparations for the biological control of nematodes.
  • We provide analysis of Hirsutella that parasites on plant nematodes, including studies on the reduction of nematode egg density and the inhibition of nematode growth by fungi.
