Culture of Beneficial Nematodes

Culture of Beneficial Nematodes

As people become more aware of environmental protection, they pay more attention to food safety and environmental protection while increasing crop yield. Biological control has also received attention and has become important in integrated pest management. The use of beneficial nematodes to control biological pests is an emerging biological control technology with many advantages. Cultivation methods for nematodes have also been continuously development, and currently, the main cultivation methods are in vivo / in vitro cultivation, isolated cultivation, aseptic cultivation, and monoculture method.

Lifeasible is a leading provider of comprehensive, high-quality services for plant sciences. We provide a culture of beneficial nematodes for research purposes to customers worldwide. We look forward to working with our customers to discover the secrets of life sciences.

In Vivo Culture of Beneficial Nematodes

  • The in vivo culture method allows beneficial nematodes to infest and enter the body of the pest. Afterward, the nematodes use the pest's nutrient substrate to survive and reproduce, eventually obtaining a large number of nematodes.
  • Lifeasible provides in vivo culture of beneficial nematodes, mainly by using the greater wax borer as a host for nematode culture. Taking advantage of the nematode's hydrotropism, we observed that when the nutrient substrate of the pest is depleted, nematodes in the infestation stage leave the host on their own and move to the water source, where a large number of nematodes can be obtained by collecting water.

In Vitro Culture of Beneficial Nematodes

  • The in vitro culture is a technique that uses artificial media technique to propagate nematodes, which mainly includes aseptic cultivation, solid-state cultivation, and liquid-state cultivation.
  • We provide an aseptic culture of beneficial nematodes, which is an artificial medium with some special nutrients, such as peptone, beef paste, bovine serum, etc., and experimental operations are performed in a sterile environment. In addition, we compare the effects of different animal tissues on nematode production and virulence.
  • We also provide a solid-state culture of beneficial nematodes. It is operated in a sterile environment, where symbiotic bacteria and nematodes are added to the medium for cultivation. We usually use a sponge as a carrier and use soy flour, peptone, flour, etc., as nutrients.
  • Our service lists include liquid-state culture of beneficial nematodes. It refers to the use of the liquid medium in which symbiotic bacteria are inoculated with primary nematode species of the insect. We usually perform aeration culture with yeast extract, soybean extract, and cholesterol as nutrients.
