Ashbys Mannitol Agar is used for cultivation of Azotobacter species that can use mannitol and atmospheric nitrogen as source of carbon and nitrogen respectively.

Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 35-37 centigrade for upto 5 days.
Reaction of 4.07% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 7.4±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2-8 centigrade.
Instructions
Suspend 40.7 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat just to boiling. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri plates.
