Product Overview
Special Yeast and Mould Medium is used for isolation and cultivation of yeasts and moulds.
Form
Cream to yellow homogeneous free flowing powder
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 28-32 centigrade for 48-72 hours (Trichophyton mentagrophytes incubated at 30±2 centigrade for upto 7days).
Reaction of 6.1% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 5.6±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2-8 centigrade. Use before expiry date on the label
Instructions
Suspend 61 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Mix thoroughly. Heat to boiling with frequent agitation to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes. For improved selectivity, aseptically add 40 mg streptomycin and/or 35 mg chlortetracycline and mix well. If desired, adjust pH by aseptically adding 1N HCl or 1N NaOH.
