Liposome Component Testing Services

Lifeasible's staff has years of experience and specialized laboratory equipment to complete liposome development and testing services. We have extensive experience in liposome encapsulation of small molecules and the physical and chemical characterization of liposomes. We can quickly assist our customers with their project requirements.

Liposome Component Testing Services

The composition of liposomes is mainly composed of phospholipids and cholesterol. Phospholipids are the main chemical components of liposomes, the most representative of which is lecithin. Lecithin is a neutral phospholipid with low preparation cost and stable properties. Cholesterol is also another important component of liposomes. It is an important component of many natural biological membranes. It does not form a membrane structure by itself but can be inserted into phospholipid membranes in a 1:1 or even 2:1 molar ratio. The addition of cholesterol can change the phase transition temperature of lipid membranes, thus affecting membrane permeability and fluidity. Since the functions of different phospholipids, cholesterol, and other components can vary, the analysis of the composition content of liposomes can be used to develop liposomes better, perform operations such as modification of liposomes, and better broaden the market of liposomes applications.

Means of Liposome Components Detection

The content of phospholipids can be detected by high-performance liquid chromatography with a highly sensitive detector. For the characteristics of phospholipids, our laboratory can provide an electrospray detector, which is fully characterized by high sensitivity, highly consistent response values, and excellent reproducibility. The method is simple, efficient, and accurate.

Means of Detection of Liposomes Components

Our company has also developed a fast, efficient, accurate, and simultaneous detection of phospholipids and cholesterol by HPLC-ELSD, which allows direct determination of the ratio of the content of each component in liposomes. The method can also be used to examine changes in composition ratios at different temperatures and is suitable for the verification of liposome preparation processes and inspection of product quality.

Why is it Necessary to Perform Composition Testing of Liposomes?

The composition of liposomes plays an important role in plant and medical research, and the composition affects membrane fluidity and ion channel function. Therefore, qualitative identification and quantitative analysis of the composition of liposomes allow the analysis of their status in the organism.
