Maintenance (SCY) Medium is used for the maintenance of iron bacteria.

White to cream homogeneous free flowing powder
Characteristic
Cultural characteristics observed after an incubation at 25-30 centigrade for 48-72 hours with added cyanocobalamin.
Reaction of 1.2% w/v aqueous solution at 25 centigrade. pH : 7.3±0.2.
Storage
Store below 30 centigrade in tightly closed container and the prepared medium at 2 - 8 centigrade.
Instructions
Suspend 12.26 grams in 1000 ml distilled water. Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121 centigrade) for 15 minutes. Aseptically add filter-sterilized solution of cyanocobalamin to a final concentration of 0.01 mg/litre. Mix well and dispense as desired.
