Total Dissolved Solids Content Testing

Total Dissolved Solids Content Testing

Total Dissolved Solids Content Testing

TDS (total dissolved solids) is the number of minerals, metals, organic materials, and salt dissolved in a given volume of water. Its value indicates how many milligrams of dissolved solids are dissolved in 1 liter of water. The higher the TDS value, the more dissolved material the water contains, which is directly related to the quality and purity of the water.

The conductivity value is generally used to approximate the salt content of the solution. In general, the higher the conductivity, the higher the salt content, and the higher the TDS. Total dissolved solids can be suspended in the form of molecules, ionized, and particles (colloidal sols).

The level of total dissolved solids affects all aspects of water for residential, drinking, or industrial use. Lifeasible offers TDS testing technology services for a wide range of types of water samples.

  • Drinking water
  • Industrial water
  • Natural environmental water
  • Source water
  • Surface water
  • Groundwater
  • Drainage water

Lifeasible can test not only the total dissolved solids in the water samples but also the total solids, suspended solids, and solids percentage in the water samples. We perform at least one blank for every 10 samples or batches and repeat the analysis for each sample to produce average results to ensure accuracy.

There are many methods to determine TDS in water, and the most commonly used standard analytical method is the weight method.

The principle of the weight method is that the water sample is passed through a filter membrane and the solids that are trapped on the membrane are dried to a constant weight under suitable temperature conditions. Although the principle is relatively simple, many factors affect the accuracy, so each step of the analysis process such as filtration, washing, drying, and weighing is a standard for us to perform quality control.

Of course, in addition to using the classic weight method, we have also introduced the rapid instrumental method. lifeasible will use the instrumental method to determinate content both of dissolved solids in water and total soluble salts in hazardous waste. This method is fast, simple, and accurate, which greatly reduces testing time while ensuring accurate results and timely and accurate feedback to customers.

Lifeasible can detect the content of total dissolved solids, total solids, and suspended solids in water samples. We operate in strict accordance with the experimental protocols and control the experimental conditions so that the results of TDS determination meet the requirements of accuracy, precision, and comparability, and thus evaluate the water quality.
