• Extraction and Separation of Vincristine

Crude powder of periwinkle was stirred with water, left for a moment, cold immersed with benzene, extracted with tartaric acid, and filtered. The filtrate was alkalized with ammonia extracted with chloroform; the total alkaloid was added with methanol and left overnight, precipitated, and filtered, and crystallized as isovincristine. The filtrate was decompressed to recover methanol and purified. Total alkaloids plus anhydrous ethanol and 5% sulfuric acid anhydrous ethanol solution, left for two days to precipitate crystals filtered crystals (vincristine, vincristine mixture), dissolved in water, ammonia alkalization, chloroform extraction, chloroform solution with anhydrous sodium sulfate dehydration, concentration, drying, chromatography by alumina columns, with a mixture of benzene, chloroform, elution, and collection of segments.

The first section was evaporated and dried plus 5% sulfuric acid anhydrous ethanol as periwinkle sulfate, the middle section was subperiwinkle, and the latter section was evaporated and dried plus 5% sulfuric acid anhydrous ethanol as periwinkle neopine sulfate.
