Control of Plant Nematodes by Fatty Acids and Derivatives

Control of Plant Nematodes by Fatty Acids and Derivatives

Fatty acids (FAs) are ubiquitous in nature and play crucial roles in life processes because they are basic lipids components and occur naturally as glycerol esters in animal or vegetable fats and oils. Most naturally occurring FAs contain a chain with an even number of carbon atoms, ranging from 4 to 28. Many FAs have antifungal activities, including butyric, caproic, caprylic, capric, and palmitic acids, while some unsaturated FAs have an inhibitory effect on several plant pathogens. In addition, several types of FAs and their derivatives have also been reported to have nematocidal activities.

Lifeasible provides a range of services to our customers worldwide, including fatty acids and their derivatives. With extensive experience and expertise in plant science, we are committed to providing you with timely and high-quality deliverables.

Analysis of the Fatty Acids

  • Fatty acids, the essential components of life, are common plant and animal constituents and usually exist in vivo as esters. Free fatty acids have also been identified as nematotoxicity compounds produced by nematode-antagonistic fungi. They were widely present in various seed cakes, gutter oil, and other resources.

  • Lifeasible provides analysis services of the fatty acids against plant nematodes, including acetic, formic, butyric, caproic, caprylic, capric, lauric, myristic, palmitic, oleic acids, and others. At the same time, we compared and evaluated the nematocidal effects of different types of fatty acids.
  • We help our clients analyze the effects of fatty acids on nematode production, hatching, J2 mortality, and plant biomass. In the process of nematicide, we also help to study the fatty acid concentration range, activity, and distribution.

Analysis of Their Derivatives

  • Fatty acid derivatives include, among others, oxylipins, hydroxy fatty acids, diols, alkenones, and wax esters. They can occur as storage lipids or cell wall components and possess, in some cases, striking nematocidal properties.
  • We provide analysis services of the derivatives of fatty acids against plant nematodes, such as fatty acid esters, including methyl pelargonate and ethylene glycol pelargonate, di-n-butyl succinate, triglyceride, and others. Further, we identify critical genes in the pathway of fatty acids and their derivatives to improve crop resistance through transgenic means.

Lifeasible has been dedicated to planting science for many years. We'll finish your studies on time and within budget. We guarantee the confidentiality and sensitivity of our customer's data.
